To help raise awareness and to show support for Earth Hour, the "lights" on this page of the website have been symbolically turned off...

As Environmental matters are important to me, I support Earth Hour! Actually, I do more than support it, I encourage people to also take it once step further! I see this as an opportunity to be aware of all the power we consume and how this affects the Environment. To be aware of the little things we can change that can make a difference... and to help band together and actually make a small but significant, drop in power consumption - if only for an hour.

Not so sure it's a good idea - I've written an article about Earth Hour here.

On Earth Hour night, I encourage people to go beyond just turning off the lights. Go around the house and turn off all those appliances that have a "standby" mode with any lit-up buttons or displays. Unplug the "Wall Worts" (those little box powercord things, which draw power even when the appliance is off). Turn off your TV, the computers and all that stuff.... then go take the dog for a walk.... have a relaxing candle-lit bath.... spend some "quality time" with someone you love ;) Do something that doesn't involve the use of power-gobbling machines. And don't just turn your power back on at the end of the hour.... I encourage you to keep it off... for an hour or two longer. If you can do it for 1 hour, you can do it for 2! If you really must watch that TV show - keep everything else off. Do as much as you can. More ideas for what to do can do can be found here.

One night out of the whole year, take this step, join with people from around the world and appreciate a night without sapping power!

Then also think about this at other times, not just Earth Hour. Do you leave your porch lights on? Do you turn a light off when you leave a room? Do you leave your microwave and other appliances constantly switched on? If you work in an office, do you leave the computers and lights on all night? Could you make some small changes that would conserve energy on a day to day basis? Not only saving you money, but saving power wastage, which helps the environment.
